Today at Mobile World Congress Conference, Microsoft rolled out the Beta version of Windows 8 for all who are anxious to get their hands on it to give it a test run. So what are some of the new features? Well word has it that it boasts over a hundred thousand new goodies and is said to be very different from 7.  One feature is the new touch interface called Metro. It took the files and folders feature we’ve grown accustomed to, replacing them with touchable tiles. Touch makes sense since we live in a world where touch interface is commonplace on tablets, phones and even on appliances we use every day. So you can zoom, pinch, swipe, drag, tap and rotate using two fingers all over the new OS. Not to panick my qwerty-dependent friends, Microsoft has made Windows 8 friendly enough for touch fiends and keyboard & mouse users to co-exist.

When your screen is in locked mode, another new feature will let you know how many emails, messages and notifications you have. You can also choose what type of information you want to see in the lock screen. With a quick swipe you can log in using your Windows ID & password or using gestures on a photo. Another feature is the Windows app store. Most of you that are familiar with OS X for Apple, it operates similarly, allowing you to download applications from Microsoft and third-party developers. They will include a wide range of apps to satisfy your entertainment and productivity needs. Microsoft, is also doing something reminiscent of Apple, making all their devices compatible with one other- tablet, phone and computer and I saved the best feature for last which includes all these devices. It is a cloud-like feature that allows users to sign into any Windows 8 computer or device using their Windows Live ID, giving you access to your desktop image, apps and customized preferences. Yes, being able to take your downloaded apps and programs with you is now easy with Windows 8. Connecting your files from Facebook to Flickr should be a smooth transition. Microsoft has taken Windows 8 and plans to roll it out to all their devices, making your phone, pc and windows tablet in sync. This can be very intricate task especially when it comes to programs responding well to touch and with the use of a mouse. So, I will be looking forward to seeing how adaptable Windows 8 is in regards to that.  So are you now excited to download the Consumer Preview? Go on and download it here now and be sure to tell us what you think!

Ticked off at her parents for making her do chores to complain about the hardships of life, a young teenage girl took to Facebook to talk about how she felt. Laced with curse words and derogatory comments, the teen told her friends how she felt in an open letter to her parents. What she didn't count on happening though was that after spending half of his day upgrading her pc, her father, Tommy Jordan, was going to stumble upon her Dear Dad post. After reading the disturbing open letter his daughter posted on Facebook, the North Carolina dad took to another social media website, YouTube and posted his video response.
Do you think the father went to the extreme? Or are you team .45 and want to donate more bullets to the cause? How do you feel about the family using social media to air their dirty laundry? Personally, I would have been more fired up had this been a MacBook..just saying.

In unbelievably sad news, Whitney Houston has passed at the age of 48. The media will try to do a number on her but it is the voice that she should and will be remembered for. She had talent that we don't see anymore. The Jennifer Hudsons, Christina Aguileras and the Beyonces will come along and will try to be like Whitney, but there will NEVER be another. My heart and prayers goes out to her family during this time of grief. This is mind numbing on so many levels and hard to grasp as I am sure it is with many. Her songs were a soundtrack for many of us. Here is one of my favorite songs for Whitney.

And speaking of Rumor has it- I want to say congratulations to Adele on her 6 Grammy nominations. I absolutely love her album, 21 and it has been heavy rotation  . If you don't own the album 21, you really aren't saying much of anything right now. Check out one my favorite songs off the album below and tune in this Sunday 8/7c to watch The 54th Grammys on CBS.

The weather this winter has been unpredictable to say the least and well, so is our fave tech company.  According to All Things D, Apple will make an announcement to launch the next generation iPad. As in times past, Apple usually holds their events in February. Time and exact date is sketchy at this time. The date March 9th has been tossed around.  This is the same date that has been thrown around regarding the release with an iOS 5.1 upgrade. It is assumed, as tradition goes, it will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Fran.  So far the deets on the specs have been the same: faster chip, improved graphics, and larger battery.  Of course and as always, reps for the company declined to comment.

I have dreams of the iPad 3 looking more like an iPad 3D. I saw this image on your left once and was overwhelmed by the sheer sleekness of the image. I guess one can dream, can’t they?

While rummaging around YouTube looking for another video, I stumbled upon this little nugget. It is a clip from the TODAY show with Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric where they were discussing this new phenomenon called the Internet and the funny little symbol we now know as the @ sign. This footage was shot in January 1994 and of course we know that the world wide web had been invented in 1990, four years prior. So I am guessing it was still on its way to becoming a household name. I thought it was funny, not because of the hair and fashion, but to see how far we have come.
