I recently took a trip to one of the many breath-taking islands in the Caribbean. Like the typical tourist, I hit the beach to do a little swimming and jet skiing. I had a great time and the views were sight to behold. However, while I had my trusty Sony camera, I realize, while jet skiing, that I didn’t have a waterproof point and shoot that I can use to take underwater pictures.  So to ensure this never happens again and with summer coming up, I have done some serious digging and came up with three digital cameras that will definitely be ideal for capturing your summer vacation's underwater memories.

First my list is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2V (Approx. $270)

The Panasonic Lumix checks off a lot on my list, with its compact look, high resolution of 14.1 MP and ability  to go as deep as 33 feet. It is shockproof, as it can survive a 5-foot fall. It features a 2.7 inch LCD, optical image stabilization with 720p HD video recording at 30 fps and has a high speed burst capability to 10 fps(frames per second). It comes in a wide range of colors, blue, orange and silver.  I like that it has an everyday look to it, allowing me to take to the beach or to a wedding.

Next is the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 (starting at $250-$270)

When it comes to great cameras, Olympus never fails and they really came out swinging with the Stylus Tough 8000. This camera lives up to its’ name with its tough exterior and I was also impressed with what it had going on under the hood. 12 MP camera, 24 shooting modes, 3.6 wide angle lens and can shoot multiple frames per second. It is waterproof down to 33 feet; it is shockproof, sustaining falls from up to 6.6 feet, and freeze-proof surviving 14 degree Fahrenheit temperatures. It is everything proof and definitely worth checking out.

Another popular name in photography is Fujifilm and they hit the mark with their Fujifilm FinePix XP10 ($199)

Waterproof up to 10 feet, shockproof of up to 3 feet and freeze-proof of up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, this camera has a 12 MP, 2.7 inch LCD screen, 5x optical zoom lens with a reinforced protective lens barrier. It also features 720p HD movie recording and an automatic Facebook/YouTube Automatic Web Upload function for easy uploading. Fujifilm FinePix XP10 comes available in three different colors, silver, black and green.
